What Does Christian Nationalism Mean?

Published by:

Second in our little series on what the Bible says about government, I answer the question, “What does ‘Christian Nationalism’ mean?” It is an important question for sure. At the end of our first face to face teaching session, on of the gentleman asked, and very insistently. The answer is “it depends.”  But! yes, it depends upon who is speaking.

Basically, it is an accusation, based on projection, that Christians want to control  the government from the far right. Of course, that is silly, comical, preposterous — and demonstrably false from the founding of this nation until today. Christians, by contrast, tend to stay out of the political arena. When they are adept and at the center of it, such as in the founding days, they work very clearly and competently to keep the discussion and the general political area open to diversity of opinions. That is why America was founded the way it was: with freedom of religion and freedom of speech first. With no establishment of religion. Because the people in the majority were Biblical Christians, and having known persecution from the Anglican and Roman churches, were not willing to engage in it themselves.

However, given this charge by authoritarian communists and world controllists, common Americans with either first or second naivete, have taken up the claim and called themselves Christian Nationalists.  Just like Christians and Methodists used the moniker that was meant to cast aspersions upon them. Some people will say, “Yes. I am a Christian. And yes, I am a patriot.”

But what about dominionism? What about the NAR?  Listen, I have all the answers for you.

And please share with you friends.

And, btw, apologies for late posting. We have had , indeed still have a very difficult situation of connection to the internet, molasses slow loading, and an impossibility of uploading. Please pray for this ministry to overcome these challenges.

7 Mountains Apologia

Published by:

Finishing up our series on what the Bible has to say about government, let’s talk about this new idea, 7-mountains. The basic concept is also called, in different circles, “the cultural mandate.”  Given the perspective of those I know, this is an important topic to discuss when we consider how we should interface with society and with government. So often, conservative Christians,  pentecostals especially, and women, just thought they should stay out of politics. By contrast, some fundamentalist Baptists or conservative Reformed folks seem to hold political views co-terminus with theology. Both groups have, in my hearing, questioned this 7 Mountain Mandate talk. On the other hand, my Spirit-filled educated friends are thrilled with the opening of the door to application of Christian life, of Spirit, and of Bible, to all of life. They often felt stifled and hemmed in in the lower middle class perspective of separation defined as not getting involved, and simply staying quiet in a corner.

I can hear people get offended as I state this clearly and precisely. Read it again. Admit it. The upper middle class, mainline folks were in charge of civics and politics in the 1950s and 1960s. Since then, increasingly the secularist and socialists have been in ascendancy. But in the ’50s and ’60s, conservative Christians eschewed both education and civic involvement. With the advent of the charismatic movement more educated people joined these churches and adopted this theology. That portion of the church expanded its market share steadily. At the same time, these churches, along with their SES segments, experienced great economic growth.

In this century, however, growth slowed, and communists (meaning authoritarian socialists) arose to prominence in the marketplace of ideas as in politics. Socialism took a stronger hold in the mainline churches. The most conservative churches split off, but struggled for direction, carrying with them more leftest ideas than they realized. At the same time, pentecostal churches fell back into their ways. Word of Faith continued to grow and are a home for middle class pentecostal/charismatics. The upper middle class tended to search for a home mostly in the Apostolic and Prophetic movements, precisely the sector most likely to accept the 7 Mountain Mandate. Why? because they needed faith direction for vocation and civic engagement.

Then, the question arose: is this Biblical? Because neither of the two promoters of the 7 Mountain Message are either theologians or professional sociologists (tho both have in-depth Bible knowledge, and tremendous practical insight (one in management and the other I judge as a pastoral sociologist) — and both have a great following among business and government leaders — no apologia has been made. Detractors have popped up. So, here is the answer: yes: The 7 Mountain Message is Biblical and theologically orthodox.

Listen, and I will tell  you why.

While the last post was about 10 days late because of technical issues with uploading to the podcast platform, this episode is about a month early. Normally, this would be our June installment of our study on what the Bible says about government and politics. However, coincidentally, Johnny and Elizabeth Enlow have been able to publish their long-awaited documentary. So, since I had this made, and was successful at getting it uploaded, I decided to go ahead and publish it.

Hmm, although posting more links always helps ranking, I think I will refrain from embarrassing the recent detractors.

Also, although I have in the past spent A LOT of time posting links to books in Amazon.com, since I can no longer shop there because I will not tolerate the forcing of Prime, alas. Anyway, both Wallnau and the Enlow s have books. Enjoy.

addition: Oh! Lance posted mention of “dominionism” today:

12 Lies in the Church

Published by:

Recently, I ran a series on how to tell what is true on The Great Shalom Broadcast: Overcoming Learning Problems, with a view to helping mothers and educators teach their children in these dangerous and bewildering times. Then, I just had this one come up in my spirit.  These may not be the most important lies ever, but probably pretty close. These are lies that are perennial and perverse. You for sure have heard some, if not all of them. Gosh, most of us are caught up in several. If not, then you probably get “corrected” by religious people with these lies — they are so pervasive.

I put them in an order of 12, some of which are paired. Like the judaizers and the gnostics. If you have studied the letters of Paul, you have heard of these. Have you thought about the same lies cropping up in the church today? Legalism hoops and spiritual ladder show-offs. What about the worst and most prevalent: we all sin every day. Oh. Is that true? Maybe. But what about the intended meaning: “so get comfortable with it!” Ah…. no.  That is why I made this “12 lies in the church” track.

This, you must hear.

If you want to hear the series on The Great Shalom, well, you can go there and select the “shop” tab and get the set as a download. It is on sale now, I think.

By the way, if you are a God-hater, and hoped to find criticisms of God… well listen in. Find the grace and mercy of God. The straightforward truth of God, reaching out for you… and all of flesh that is corrupt until God redeems is with resurrection power.

For More on the Apostle’s Creed

Published by:

What we call “the Apostle’s Creed” was used in order to pass down the basics of theology and affirm the common faith since 210. Most churches stood and affirmed their faith together — as least until after 1970 when the portion of the church that were “non-creedal”  expanded. Many groups where so proud of their being non=creedal or Spirit-filled that they were also proud of not learning and not being connected with the historical church. However, even within the Spirit-filled traditions, some continued affirming the common faith with these words. Derek Prince, for one, continued the tradition of saying the Apostle’s Creed and serving the Lord’s Supper/Communion/Eucharist. Today, we are seeing that no matter how far we go in the hidden mysteries, we remain connected with the first church, and thus with all believing churches.

Here are Drs. Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda, proteges of Derek Prince, explaining the Apostle’s Creed.

https://cmi.us.endis.com/Groups/1000047683/Chavda_Ministries_International/Media/Podcasts/Podcasts.aspx

Today many churches have rewritten the Creed into modern language. For instance, rather than explaining that “catholic” means universal and does not refer to one denomination… the old wording of “I believe in the holy catholic church” has been changed to “I believe in the Body of Christ”  which carries the original meaning.

Election Explanation and Rapture News

Published by:

Johnny Enlow is one of the prophets that predicted that Trump would have a second term, in sucession. And stayed with it.  He now says, like Lance Wallnau, we should turn our effort to practical measures.  He offers a new perspective on the Rapture. I notice that it too, is very realistic given what I see around me, especially with respect to the unwise vaccination acceptation. I am looking for a way to regularly pray with you. What platform or time/place would you like? I am also considering a large covid teach-in with stats, etc. Let me know your interest.

In Case You Missed It…
Recent Posts from Johnny Enlow  have been posting a little less often about holding the line on the governmental matter we are standing for as we continue to believe God and His prophets. I have done so because once we get established that we are believing God to do His part, we all want to make sure we are doing our part. We tried fasting, praying, and going into the courts of heaven etc.—at an all-time record pace—to get this shift done and it didn’t get accomplished that way. This “failure” was designed by God so that we embrace a major paradigm change. We START with fasting, praying, decreeing, declaring, courts of heaven etc.—but we must get PRACTICALLY INVOLVED as citizens.

We have to very PRACTICALLY resist the overreach of government at all levels. With the constitutional, bill of rights violations, the masks, the vacks, with its weaponry of the cdc, the bought media, the bought big tech, etc. We need ekklesia participation as salt and light at every level. No more ignoring city councils, mayoral elections, sheriff elections, and all other local political positions. We need to be making citizen calls, campaign, vote, advise, make our voice heard on social media, etc. The “church” could skip going to a church building for a year (as perhaps most already have) and we would be much better served being active in society. WE would be better served and the Kingdom of God would be better served. No more of the virus of “endtimesitis” (i.e. Jesus is coming any second) that has dominated the church for 2000 years and made us scarily irrelevant. We have just undergone the conclusive proof that we have overvalued church-building participation and undervalued societal-participation (the ekklesia’s seven mountain mandate). This course correction and paradigm shift is being driven by the pain of the delay of being rescued by any other means.

As Jesus said, “if the salt loses its (societal) savor” it will be cast out and trampled upon. We are a massive majority but have been terribly asleep. I am convinced that God is 100% in control of the timing of when He does the bigger thing He is about to do, but I am also convinced that His delays are directly tied into the pain He knows we need to feel to properly wake up and never fall asleep again. We let the criminals take all the seven mountains of all the nations of the world while we were the Titanic band that played on and on…”Jesus is coming any moment.” Jesus is, in fact, coming back sooner than He was going to yesterday, but if we miss the assignment given us before then, we will experience a Titanic catastrophe and not the return of Jesus. Bad things happening don’t make Jesus’ return—completed kingdom assignments do. He said “occupy” until I return and not “speculate” until I return. May an “occupying” anointing be released across this and all nations of the world.

This Present Rapture

For those looking forward to “the rapture” we are actually going through a powerful one right now. It is “the rapture” described in Proverbs 2:21, 22.

“For the upright will dwell in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.”

If you didn’t like that New King James Version of the Bible, let’s now read it in the New Living Translation.

“For only the godly will live in the land, and those with integrity will remain. But the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be uprooted.”

If that wasn’t “the rapture” you were hoping for at this time, go ahead and make the adjustment. This rapture is about THE TREACHEROUS BEING UPROOTED. For the rest of you/us the assignment is REMAIN and REMAIN WITH INTEGRITY. BE the preserving SALT of the earth. BE the darkness-expelling LIGHT of the world.

Feasts of Israel

Published by:

Friday night, tomorrow at about 6:00p, Rosh HaShannah (sometimes known as the Jewish new year) begins. We know considerable about the Feasts of Israel, how they foretell Jesus, and about how they foretell the “last days” — which we are obviously in. If you want teaching on this, particularly the prophetic part, let me know. We can do a series.

Ww have had some expressions of interest from some folks, from different angles, because there has been a fad/interest in other parts of the world wide church. It is very easy to get puffed up or hot under the collar or make silly invidious judgements when one does not know a great deal about the subject matter. Let’s get together and learn. It is as much about growing inside as it is about knowledge.

God Loves You and Laid Out a Supernatural Path: Saved, Baptized, Filled… gotta see it!

Published by:

Our message was John 3:1 – 21.
You have GOT TO READ IT. Oh, sure you know it. Well, you know the story about Nicodemus going to Jesus at night and getting told he needs to be born again. And you remember Jn3:16 That God so loves the world….that He gave his only begotten Son. Did you ever put them together, even?

This is what I noticed. Big revelation. Jesus said you can not SEE the Kingdom of Heaven unless you are born from above. Then he says you can not ENTER the Kingdom unless you are born of the Water and of the Spirit. Most people just lump these all together. Really, if pressed, they would have to say they just don’t know all that Jesus meant here. Some say that Baptism is part of being born again. Most are really strong that baptism doesn’t substitute for being born again, becoming a new creation; so, for this reason are really frightened by anything that sounds like “baptismal regeneration” like a ritual is enough without reality. However, We all agree that you SHOULD BE BAPTIZED. Most everyone thinks that “water” here means baptism and not “washing of water by the Word.” So?

Context for metoday is that Rodney Howard Brown told a story about a guy who answered the altar call/gave his life to the Lord/was saved, and was going to church, but just couldn’t understand stuff. Just struggling to be a Christian. Then he got baptized and everything became clear to him like an almost immediate revelation. Baptism made a huge huge huge difference. We all agree that we should be baptized, out of obedience. It is a symbol that we are dead with Christ. So we like to dunk people. Better symbolism. Count yourselves dead to sin, dead with Christ, and alive with him in His resurrection. Awesome.

Then, can’t enter into the Kingdom unless you are born of the Spirit? Oh gosh, I could teach a whole semester on various versions of explanations of Holy Spirit and when Holy Spirit enters into the life of the believer. Of course, you can’t be saved without the conviction and convincing of Holy Spirit. But, on the other hand, not everyone has been empowered. Not everyone moves in supernatural gifts– which are CLEARLY taught in the New Testament. (And given that something like 10 million people today do, it is pretty hard imagine that they ceased. LOL.) Oh, then, what about Jesus blowing on his disciples and saying “receive the Holy Spirit” versus the Holy Spirit apparently blowing in on the Day of Pentecost? I think I can pretty well explain “in, with, and on” another time but that is not nearly as important as the point here in John 3. You can not ENTER into the Kingdom unless you have been born ***of the Spirit.***

So we can all agree we want to be born from above, born of the water and born of the Spirit, right? Of course, we want to see and enter the Kingdom of God? Of course. Right. Sure. Yes. Amen.

We are definitely going to agree on being born again, as a heart work, of turning your heart to the Lord, of believing that Jesus rose from the dead, of accepting Him as savior. We believe in our heart and make public confession. Romans 10. Yes.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Then, we all agree that we should be baptized. Good. Rom_6:4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Col_2:12  Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Great.
And then we all must agree that we should be being filled with the Holy Spirit. Act 2:38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Eph_5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

So, we all agree that Christian life, walking IN the Kingdom would be one of being filled with the Holy Spirit. (And being filled will mean, we will see many places, speaking the Word boldly, being empowered to witness, and moving in supernatural manifestations otherwise called “gifts of the Spirit.”) Fine.

Now, one of the objections to the classical Pentecostal teaching of a second definite work is that charism (or gifting of the Holy Spirit) is supposed to come in baptism. So, imagine an Anglican or a Presbyterian arguing that a baby gets everything he or she needs in baby baptism. No matter how well ensconced in ancient theology that idea may be, modern personal reflection just reels. (I don’t think you can come up with a single example of anything working that way. For instance, Augustine, John Wesley, and Johnathan Edwards all had salvation experiences, even though they believed in baby baptism.) Now, however, here is a new way of putting that together. Why can’t a newly saved (justified) believer, who gets baptized, come out speaking in tongues? LOL. Why not go for the gusto and get it all at once? Why wait until you are sanctified, ossified, or backslidden? ROFL! That is not the way I was taught, but from recently pastoral experience, looks like maybe a good goal. While I surely understand why the Pentecostals formulated things they way they did — and actually think they have the best formulation overall — why wait? Why not bet saved, baptized and filled to overflowing with Holy Spirit all at once? Sound good to me.

And surely, this would spur growth. This is what we want. This is our focus.

And by the way, many congratulations to J.C. who got baptized today! HalleluJah! We rejoice with you.

So it is all about getting showered with God’s love. No need to wait for each step. Let’s just receive it all. Maybe this will end up with a better result: more and quicker understanding. Less fooling around. Less offense over obviously true basic teachings. Like little child who has a tummy ache, and mommy says, “Honey, when you steal a bunch of green apples and eat them all at once, then your tummy will ache.” And Junior gets mad at mum. And says “You bad mommy.” And slams the door to his bedroom. Or, worse, teen, stuffs herself with …. some red dye sugary concoction full of chemicals and won’t eat food.” Then Dad says, “Daughter, you are showing signs of obesity and we are worried about diabetes for you.” Then youngster says, “Oh, you just don’t love me. I am running away from home.” Then she does. Only to meet worse fate. God wants good for you… just like good parents. Pastors often want a crowd and stable budget. Nevertheless, the Lord wants the best for you. That is why there is a laid out path. Not to mention it to the kids would be neglect.

Yes, of course, the youngsters have some duty to make decisions. Maybe the more we can get them showered in God’s love, having radical experience3d, then the more they will understand… and grow up quick.
(Just like you learn better if your tummy isn’t hurting or your brain is not foggy from too much red sugary chemically concoction? And if you realize you are in the best house in the country, you won’t want to run away?) Welcome to the family of God. Welcome to the Father of all. Welcome to our little group willing to read, hear, study, grow, and serve together.

*****Many congratulations to J.C. who got baptized today! HalleluJah! We rejoice with you. ****

We talked about Holy Spirit on Pentecost, but not so much the Baptism of the Holy Spirit because we have a different crowd than expected. But, please, do ask, if you are not already moving in supernatural gifts.

Questions and Answers

Thumbs up or Thumbs Down?

Published by:

Q: So, Joyce Meyers, thumbs down?
We have a leadership time before service, and since we had no pressing business, we ended up with this question. So teaching time on other groups.
A: There are 3 categories, at least, and not just two of thumbs up or thumbs down.

Category 1: Outsider (non-Christian or false teacher)
Anybody who doesn’t teach that Jesus is Lord or that Jesus came in the flesh, or doesn’t teach salvation by grace through faith unto good works is an outsider. We should be nice to outsiders, try to win them, but we obviously do not take teaching on Christian doctrine from outsiders.

Category 2: Good doctrine shyster.
It is possible for someone to have good doctrine but do the wrong thing. Haven’t you done something wrong while yet, you knew the truth? So, yes, it is possible for a minister to be teaching good doctrine and be doing something wrong, like stealing, etc. The shifty used car salesman who advertises that he is active in XYZ Bible church is a good example. I’ve met this guy. We would probably not want to do business with him, but we couldn’t call him a non-Christian. Of course, it is possible to have good doctrine and not really be a Christian, but we don’t make that judgment; only God does.

Category 3: A Christian who just doesn’t see it the way we do.
There are lots of people in the category. None of us can comprehend all of God, so there will be differences of perspective. In most cases we should appreciate the note that somebody else is playing in the overall symphony, even if we are called to play another note. Fine. It falls to us to play our note and be respectful that these others are Christians and that is how they see it. We might have friendly discussions with them, but remember that we do agree on the ultimate gospel.

Now, it is possible that many Christians start out playing their one note in the symphony and begin thinking that it is the entire gospel. They might even switch out their idea or their group for THE TRUTH. Well, that is their problem. God is the judge. We might talk about our disagreement on principles, without calling them names.

So, what do I think about Joyce Meyers? Well, I’m not up of Joyce Meyers. I’ve never been to one of her meetings. I have never heard her preach heresy. I am not aware of her being indicted of any crime. I just don’t have any reason to criticize her. Max Lucado included her blurb praising his book, so I guess he thought well enough of her. I try not to criticize gospel ministers, anyway. (And while writing this, I remembered a scripture that says “take not an accusation against an elder” so I always factor in that good ministers get unfairly criticized so I am not quick to join without cause.)

You all do know however, that I will labor in doctrine all day long. We will call out errors in understanding that harm the church. That is not the same as personal criticism or “vilification.” That should not be considered as disunity or discredit to the gospel. The people who stand corrected might not like it, but that is also God’s business not ours, once we have been as respectful and kind as possible in our approach.

Appreciate the inquiring mind. Hope that answer helps. So the question is always:”What does the Bible say about this?”
