For More on the Apostle’s Creed

What we call “the Apostle’s Creed” was used in order to pass down the basics of theology and affirm the common faith since 210. Most churches stood and affirmed their faith together — as least until after 1970 when the portion of the church that were “non-creedal”  expanded. Many groups where so proud of their being non=creedal or Spirit-filled that they were also proud of not learning and not being connected with the historical church. However, even within the Spirit-filled traditions, some continued affirming the common faith with these words. Derek Prince, for one, continued the tradition of saying the Apostle’s Creed and serving the Lord’s Supper/Communion/Eucharist. Today, we are seeing that no matter how far we go in the hidden mysteries, we remain connected with the first church, and thus with all believing churches.

Here are Drs. Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda, proteges of Derek Prince, explaining the Apostle’s Creed.

Today many churches have rewritten the Creed into modern language. For instance, rather than explaining that “catholic” means universal and does not refer to one denomination… the old wording of “I believe in the holy catholic church” has been changed to “I believe in the Body of Christ”  which carries the original meaning.
